The City of Livonia needed to replace its aging District Court with a new facility that could meet the current caseload. In addition, the installation of a more technologically advanced security system was essential, as were other technology upgrades throughout the courthouse. Despite these many needs, any and all renovations and upgrades had to align with the City’s approved financing structure and attendant budget requirements. The City engaged Plante Moran CRESA (PMC) to undertake a due diligence assessment and develop a planning phase for the project.
PMC first evaluated an array of potential financing models to define the most advantageous project parameters. Then PMC began the site selection process, developed appropriate financing strategies, and provided comprehensive space analysis and programming services to maximize workspace efficiency. Acting as Owner’s Representative on behalf of the City, PMC assisted Livonia in locating a suitable site and also in the procurement of design and construction services along with project planning and project management through its completion. The result is a new (completed in 2010) 40,000 square foot City of Livonia District Court that includes the much-needed additional space, a state-of-the-art security system, and IT and technology upgrades throughout.
