SUCCESS STORY: Oshkosh National Site Selection Initiative Earns Mega Tax Credit
4/20/2010

Background:
Headquartered in Wisconsin, Oshkosh Corporation(Oshkosh), designs and builds heavy-duty specialty trucks and truck bodies and equipment. Their broad diversification allows them to leverage proprietary technologies and create powerful competitive advantages across many different markets including: commercial, access equipment, fire & emergency, and defense.
Challenges:
Oshkosh’s defense division is an industry leading global designer and manufacturer of military trucks and armored wheel vehicles featuring a propriety suspension system that can handle payloads up to 70 tons. The company needed to expand their technical support and systems engineering for medium and heavy truck fleets to fulfill a recently announced Army contract.
Results:
Oshkosh engaged Plante Moran CRESA(PMC) for national site selection, tenant representation, and identification of available incentives. With numerous options available they could make an informed and smart real estate decision.
After a comprehensive review of all the options, Oshkosh chose to lease a 46,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art technical center in Warren Michigan in the growing “defense corridor”. PMC assisted Oshkosh in the procurement of a MEGA Jobs Tax Credit worth $6.4 million spanning 12 years. The company plans to hire up to 190 new employees at that location and anticipates a capital investment in the new site of approximately $6.5 million over a five-year period.
Plante Moran CRESA will assist Oshkosh with the necessary tenant improvements to make this a state-of-the-art technical facility including a 14,000 square foot addition to the building.
