VernDale Products has been making roller dried milk used in the manufacture of premium chocolates in Detroit for more than 56 years. It was originally located on the Detroit Riverfront on property where the Renaissance Center stands today. Based on growing demand and the need for a backup facility, Dale Johnson, President and CEO, wanted to grow in Detroit and engaged Plante Moran Cresa to make this vision a reality.
Cam McCausland, Partner and Adam Burgess, Senior Associate, represented VernDale Products in the identification of long vacant structure in Detroit and assisted them in the procurement of the Property Rehabilitation District via PA 198 incentive as well as additional funds secured through the MEDC.
Art Eckert , Vice President, Project Management was the program manager on the retrofit and clean-up of the site and led the project team from concept to completion.
