York Township, MI
Toyota had initiated a long term strategy to increase their North American presence by focusing development on the selective tastes of the market. To accommodate this growth, Toyota required a new site to facilitate their focused R&D activities.
PMC assisted Toyota in finding the optimal location for their new facility, developing infrastructure for the new site, and securing a significant municipal incentive package.
Challenges
Undecided location: Toyota wished to identify a location which provided convenient access to both domestic and international supply partners.
Uphold reputation: Reputation is of utmost importance, and they needed an advocate who would be extremely sensitive to their identity in the marketplace.
Development: Toyota's selected site contained significant development deficiencies, including insufficient roadways, utilities and environmental conditions.
Solutions
PMC provided market expertise and knowledge to identify a location central to domestic and international supply partners, and in an area which could provide a qualified workforce in engineering and highly technical fields.
PMC's development consultants helped secure approvals and agreements with more than 16 state, local and county agencies to allow Toyota to develop a technical campus.
Compliance with and fostering of intergovernmental relationships also resulted in a generous incentive package, including incentives for environmental, roadways and utility infrastructure.
