Warren Consolidated Schools (WCS) needed to address their aging facilities to provide a healthy learning environment for their students.
PMC helped WCS conduct a district-wide renovation and addition program in half of the estimated time, with minimal disruption to students and faculty.
Challenges
Changing Needs: This district is one of the five largest in Michigan. Changing demographics drove the need to reallocate and retool facilities to meet new information needs.
Budget: The district had limited dollars to make improvements and expand the facilities.
Time and expertise: District staff did not have expertise in space programming, nor did they have the availability to dedicate staff full time to three simultaneous design and construction projects.

- Cost: $150,000,000 bond issue
- Size: Renovation/expansion of 2.8 million square feet, including 80,000 square feet of library space

- Results: Reduced project schedule from ten to five years, saving $8 million and allowing for additional projects, including 12 gymnasiums, 12 cafeterias, fine arts center, pool modifications and fire alarm system upgrades.
