SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – September 25, 2012 –Plante Moran Cresa, a fully-integrated independent real estate transaction and consulting firm, received an IMPACT award from Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Detroit at the CREW Detroit annual IMPACT awards luncheon on September 20th. The IMPACT awards, among the most prominent honors in the Greater Detroit commercial real estate community, recognize recently completed, multi-disciplinary projects in Southeast Michigan that demonstrate a significant, positive impact on the communities where they are built. Projects are awarded in three categories: new development, redevelopment and special impact.
Plante Moran Cresa received an IMPACT award in the new development category for its work with international defense contractor BAE Systems on BAE’s new 230,000 square foot site in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Plante Moran Cresa served as owner’s representative and project manager on the engagement, which successfully transformed a long-vacant, former TRW plant into a modern research and development/engineering facility that opened in March 2012 and is designed to house 650 employees. The BAE site is a zero landfill facility, with no waste from the construction of the facility going to landfills, and the development has been submitted for LEED® Gold certification.
Alicia Washeleski, Plante Moran Cresa Project Manager and a CREW Detroit member, accepted the award for Plante Moran Cresa. She was joined by Michael Bocek, Director of Facilities and Maintenance, Land and Armaments for BAE Systems, who commended Plante Moran Cresa for its work on the project.
“Every project of this size needs a great deal of attention to detail to achieve success. Using Plante Moran Cresa, the project came within 1% of the targeted budget that was set in 2008,” explained Bocek.
