 New Neighborhood Club Facility in Grosse Pointe Aims for January 2013 Opening with Assistance from Plante Moran Cresa

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – August 8, 2012 – Plante Moran Cresa, a fully integrated independent real estate transaction and consulting firm, is pleased to be coordinating a variety of professional services for the development of the new Neighborhood Club Recreation and Wellness Center in the City of Grosse Pointe.  The Neighborhood Club is a non-profit community service organization providing a professionally-organized program of leisure time activities for families and individuals of all ages. 

The Neighborhood Club has been operating since 1911 and prides itself on the resources it has provided to area residents for more than 100 years. Until its recent temporary relocation to the Grosse Pointe Congregational Church, the Neighborhood Club was based in a 1970’s era building with space limitations that didn’t accommodate today’s recreational needs.  When the new facility is completed, the two story structure on the corner of St. Clair and Waterloo will house a pool, gymnasium, fitness center, fitness studio, sports enhancement center and rowing room. The Club will also include administrative offices and the popular Neighborhood Club preschool. Beaumont Health System will be a long term tenant in the building, providing physical therapy services and services to children and adolescents with behavioral and developmental disorders through Beaumont’s Center for Human Development. 

Plante Moran Cresa has been acting as owner’s representative and facilitating  the comprehensive real estate project since its inception in 2007, from strategic planning, due diligence, municipal approvals and procurement of debt financing via tax exempt bonds, to the procurement process for strategic partners in engineering, architecture and construction.  The firm also is providing day-to-day project management services and oversight of the construction, which is expected to conclude in January 2013.

Financing for the Neighborhood Club is provided by Comerica Bank.
