Two Plante Moran Realpoint clients win CREW Impact Awards

About CREW Impact Awards
CREW Detroit, an organization influencing the success of the commercial real estate industry by advancing the achievements of women, announced the winners of its annual Impact Awards held on November 10, 2022, at the Garden Theater in Detroit, Mich. The Impact Awards, among the most prominent honors in the greater Detroit commercial real estate community, recognize recently completed, multidisciplinary projects in Southeast Michigan that demonstrate a significant, positive impact on the communities where they are built. Projects are awarded in three categories: new development, redevelopment, and special impact.
CREW Impact Award for new construction: The City of Royal Oak
Royal Oak is thought of as one of Michigan’s cool, walkable communities and consistently ranks high among the best places to live in the state. When the city determined its downtown municipal buildings were aged past their useful lives, city leadership wanted to approach the project in a modern, place-making way. Plante Moran Realpoint (PMR), formerly Plante Moran Cresa, worked with the City of Royal Oak as owner’s representative to define and oversee its $100 million municipal development, which includes a state-of-the-art police station, city hall, public-private office development, parking structure, and a 2.2-acre park. Royal Oak City Center Complex is bustling with activity as the community engages with the development. It now serves as the primary venue for downtown community events and features a performance stage, water fountain features, rock climbing feature, multipurpose field, and more. The private development is home to Henry Ford Medical Center, and has brought more than 200 workers to the city and hundreds of visitors daily from the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
CREW Impact Award for adaptive reuse: The Hawk Farmington Hills Community Center
Harrison High School was a symbol of pride in the Farmington Community dating back 50 years. After an emotional yet necessary decision was made to close the school, the City of Farmington Hills embarked on a project to give it a second life. PMR worked with the City of Farmington Hills as owner’s representative to oversee the $27 million community center project and renovate the historic Harrison High School into a state-of-the-art recreational center that can be enjoyed by the community. The Hawk provides a hub for residents of all ages to enjoy the visual and performing arts, athletics, maker space, and numerous special programs, camps, and events.
